Book 18 Introduction: Beautiful Creatures

For my next reading selection I have selected the book Beautiful Creatures. I’m actually reading this because my husband said that they were going to discuss the movie based on this book on his favorite podcast and he wanted me to read the book so that he can find out how different the book was from the movie.

I’m going to assume that the book is actually pretty decent since it was turned into a movie. Just because the movie is being talked about on How did this get made? Doesn’t mean that the book was bad….just that the movie sucked. So hopefully this is going to be an interesting read!

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she’s struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town’s oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.
