5/5 Hoots!
This book seriously hit all the marks for me. You had a strong female lead who was a literal warrior, you had dragons, battles, rebellion, myths, and so much more.
Asha is the daughter of the King of Firgaard and his most fierce dragon slayer. When she was a child the oldest dragon set her ablaze and left a major portion of her body burned. Ever since that moment she learned to become a warrior so that she can hunt down every single dragon in her world.
Unfortunately, for Asha slaying dragons was not the only thing that was required of her…she was also required to have an arranged marriage. Her betrothed is a cruel man who sees her as nothing more than a prize, worse than that he knows a secret about her that could change everything. The only way that she would be able to avoid this horrible fate is by killing the dragon that burned her as a child. Of course things are never that simple….
I loved the way that these characters were written, Asha especially. She went from being an unlikable person to someone who was so much more. The world that Kristen shaped around Asha was beautiful. I found myself getting lost in the imagery and the myths that were thrown in between Asha’s story. I would love nothing more than to have another book based on just the myths of this world. Overall this was an amazing read and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
