5 Hoots!

That is where our story begins, Nora the bookstore owner, meets a man who is looking for her services. Nora advises this businessman to go get a comfort scone and meet back with her so she can help find him the perfect book to help him. Unfortunately, he never gets to find out what that book is because he is found dead on the train tracks. Nora was heartbroken that he would take his own life and wanted to find out what really happened to him….this is how the secret, book, and scone club was created. These local women who interacted with the business man decided to work together to uncover the truth, eventhough they all felt a little broken themselves. In order to trust each other, every woman had to tell their secret to each other. That was one of the most interesting parts of this book.
Each woman (of varying ages) had very different reasons as to what brought them to miracle springs. It was very interesting to get their back stories and see how it affected them even to this day. It is not very often that you can get background stories for every main character and not have it rushed or just jammed in. Their stories were just organically placed in the book and really helped you get a deep understanding for the characters.
What I loved about the book was that these women were able to come together, learn to trust one another, and truly become friends! This friendship allowed them to come together and help get to the bottom of the murder in their town. I might be making this book sound like it was all about this sisterhood, but it wasn’t. You still got a wonderful murder mystery with some twists, its just that I really enjoyed the sisterhood aspect. They were able to let down their walls and because of it they were stronger for it.
Overall the pacing of this book was fantastic! The characters played to their strength in order to get the information that they needed to find out what was really happening in their small town and you were still surprised by the twists that the book held. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
I loved how well you are able to express your opinions- so clear and effective.
