So, I know that I have only been posting spooky reads lately, but I had to make an exception for my favorite series! I am so excited to share that book 4 in the Beach House mystery series is out today! In this installment we have more pirates, murder, and more moments drawing us ever closer to the battle with Cora. Is this book Christmas themed? Well yes, but there are pirates sooooo it totally fits in to spooky season. This time around pirates have been stealing fancy yachts and a giant treasure is uncovered on the beach. Coincidence? I think not! But to make matters worse…the treasure that was found belongs to the sea witch and we all know the destruction she can cause!
As if that was not enough, there is a murder that occurs that changes the lives of a few island inhabitants. I will admit, I follow the author’s facebook page and I new a death was coming but I was still surprised by who it was. When Victoria LK Williams wants to pull you in she pulls no punches. There were some moments in the book that will tug on your heart strings… especially when they involve one of the victim’s family members… sorry guys not trying to spoil it.
So anyway, what made this book such a winner for me? Well, I think that this book is showing you just how strong and cleaver Morgan is becoming. She knows that in order to save people she has to work together with Cora but that does not mean she trusts her. Most of all, she is actually learning how Cora works and how to get that to work in her favor. She knows that working with Cora comes at a price, but she will do whatever she needs to in order to protect the ones she loves. As a reader you really got to see all of that come into play in this addition to the series.
We also got to learn more about the Seaver family and that is one of my favorite parts of this series. Every little piece we get about the family’s past explains something that is happening in the present. It is like putting together a giant jigsaw puzzle… I will admit I am hooked. And is there another descendant of the Seaver family on the island? Only time will tell, but I really hope so!
Once again Victoria has created a story that pulls you in and wont let you go. Yes you get a story about pirates, but at the same time you never lose sight of the major story arch pulling everything together. You find yourself learning more about the island, the characters, and the mermaid lore. Every book leaves you excited for the next one to come, and of course leaves you wondering how the series will end! Will Morgan have to kill Cora? Who is Cordelia truly? Is the cute and adorable Misty more than just a regular kitten (yes, I vote yes)? I just want to know how is it all going to end!! Is you are looking for a cozy mystery series to read with a mermaid twist, read this series! You will not be disappointed.
