To read, or not to read. That is the question.

You may have noticed that my posts have been few and far between each other but that has been because I have just been hitting this block. I usually use reading as my way to disconnect but my brain is so fried that it just looks at a book and just says nope! It isn’t that I don’t have amazing books to read, I do! I have a fabulous to be read pile just sitting there waiting to be added to my happy little nest of read books, but I just can’t bring myself to open one.

Whenever this happens to me it makes me realize one thing… I am taking on too much. If you are at the point where you can’t even do the one thing you love, you have to change something. So where do I start? Right now reading a long book just seems like a lot of work, so I have decided to start small. I have gone into my audible and hoopla apps and selected 3 super short books/novellas to help me get started. I figure that if the book is small enough it won’t be as overwhelming.

Why start with the audiobooks instead of physical books? Well, because I have to start somewhere. I can listen to a book on my commute or while I am cleaning. Remember, this is just me taking baby steps to get back on track! And besides…audiobooks count as reading because you activate the same part of your brain when you read. An audiobook creates a movie in my head just the same as a regular book. I know some people think audiobooks don’t count, but we don’t gate keep here at my nest.

This week I’m gonna give it a try and listen to a couple of short books to see if I can get back into the groove. I will let you know how it goes! Maybe I will even tweet some updates 🙂 All I know is that I want to start reading again and I have to start somewhere!

Happy reading, my little owlets!
