Tigers Love Bubble Baths & Obsession Perfume By Kathy Savarese

5 Hoots!!

This was a different kind of cozy from what I am used to reading. For one thing, there was no sleuthing involved at all. There was no amateur PI or mysterious murders to solve. You just had a woman who was restarting her life, working in a personal care home, and granting wishes to the last living residents. At a quick glance it doesn’t sound all that crazy, but when miracles start happening things start to change. Now, for those of you that don’t now, I actually do work with Senior citizens in a personal care home so this book just hit me a little differently.

Mist by the Lighthouse by Victoria LK Williams

5 Hoots

Williams really stepped it up in the installment! I was on the edge of my seat! And who is this new little girl and why does she know so much about the Seavers?

I am so excited to share this review with you guys. This book was release yesterday and it is just so good! If you have not gotten a chance to read this series, you really need to. Can Morgan figure out who is smuggling drugs on the island and destroying the reef in the process before Cora attacks again?

The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker

5 Hoots

A hauntingly beautiful and tragic retelling of the Iliad.

Growing up I was obsessed with Greek Myths, they were my favorite. Seriously, for my one 7th grade products I drew each of the muses. Yet, I never really thought of the background characters in the stories. We have “heroes” attacking villages and doing all things epic, and not once did the reality of what it meant to be on the losing side. That is where this book comes in. This is the story of the Iliad but told from the side of the women who were claimed as prizes when their city is destroyed. This story specifically follows Briseis, the Trojan queen who becomes the slave/prize of Achillies. This is not a happy story filled with heroes and gods, this is the story of the women and children that were taken by the “heroes”.

The Strongman’s Spell by Amorette Anderson

5 Hoots

A marvelous spin off of the Hillcrest Witch series. Amorette did a wonderful job giving the reader everything they loved from the original series while giving us something entirely new.

One of my favorite cozy mystery series was the Hillcrest witch series and I was so sad when the series was over. BUT the series ended with Marley opening up a retreat, so I had hope that we would get a spin off and we did! This book starts off on the opening weekend of her wonderful retreat. Things were going well except for the fact that a reviewer was murdered and his ghost demanded that Marley find his killer or else he would have a scathing review of her resort published. So what choice did Marley really have?
